Senior Accountant – Commercial Construction

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Accountant to manage day‑to‑day accounting for active commercial construction projects across Arizona. The role supports the entire project lifecycle from contract award through closeout in a friendly, in‑office environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounts receivable and payable, including invoicing, payments, and bank deposits.
• Process vendor invoices, reconcile statements, and manage in‑house payroll and tax compliance.
• Prepare and reconcile sales tax returns, trial balances, and month‑end financial reports.
• Maintain job costing reports, monitor project costs, labor allocations, and profitability.
• Collaborate with subcontractors on payments, compliance documentation, and contract requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience supporting a commercial general contractor or specialty subcontractor.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting principles.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring accuracy and follow‑through.

Required skills

• Experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with construction accounting software and ERP systems.
