Section Head, Emergency Medicine

About the role

The Section Head, Emergency Medicine provides physician leadership and operational oversight for OMC‑Westbank Emergency Department and the Marrero Freestanding Emergency Department, delivering high‑volume, high‑acuity emergency care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic physician leadership for two distinct emergency care environments, ensuring safe, efficient, high‑quality care with focus on throughput and clinical outcomes.
• Directly oversee and support a multidisciplinary team of Emergency Medicine physicians and Advanced Practice Providers, handling recruitment, onboarding, performance assessment and professional development.
• Partner with nursing and quality leadership to drive patient safety, regulatory compliance, patient satisfaction and quality metrics.
• Collaborate with nursing, ancillary, operations and support services to optimize care delivery and interdisciplinary communication.
• Demonstrate understanding of healthcare finance, reimbursement, staffing models and contribute to strategic planning aligned with system goals.

Required profile

• MD or DO, board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine, licensed practicing provider.
• Direct report to Vice President of Medical Affairs with dual reporting to Emergency Services Service Line Leadership.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary clinical teams and managing high‑volume emergency departments.
