Second Shift Maintenance Technician

About the role

Meijer is hiring a second-shift maintenance technician in Middlebury who improves, maintains and repairs equipment used in manufacturing, production, refrigeration and packaging functions. The role also involves troubleshooting mechanical and process issues and using a proactive continuous improvement approach to keep equipment running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, scheduling and maintenance activities.
• Maintain water treatment, refrigeration, boiler and HVAC systems, including ammonia, chilled water, compressed air and HVAC equipment.
• Keep regulatory and compliance records for all systems.
• Perform routine and emergency major and minor maintenance on utility systems in a multi-craft environment, including PLC, instrumentation, mechanical and general equipment repair.
• Complete preventative maintenance (PM) and work orders on time.
• Carry out other duties as required by the Maintenance Manager.
• Practice 200% safety accountability for yourself and others.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with ammonia/HVAC and refrigerant systems.
• Training in refrigeration and controls.
• Knowledge of SQF, GMPs, LOTO and Lean Manufacturing.
• Ability to troubleshoot, understand and operate equipment.

Required skills

• HVAC certification or related technical certification preferred.
• Mechatronics certifications levels 1-4 completed.
• MIG, TIG welding and fabrication, joining and repair of metals including stainless steel for food-grade applications.
