Plant Manager - Foods

About the role

Meijer is looking for a Plant Manager to lead the team manufacturing ready-to-eat products in its Middlebury, Indiana plants. The position manages all aspects of a single manufacturing plant so that products meet quality, cost, volume and service standards. It is an onsite role, Monday to Friday, with on-call expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Work with executive management to set production and quality control standards, develop budgets and cost controls, and track product orders by type, quantity, specification and delivery date.
• Coordinate production with procurement, maintenance and quality control to optimise use of people, machines and equipment.
• Review production, quality, maintenance and operational reports to find causes of non-conformance and revise production schedules after equipment failures or operating problems.
• Advise engineering on machine modifications to improve production and quality.
• Define and direct plant policies within Meijer's manufacturing framework, and set short- and long-term objectives for profit and loss, safety, cost reduction, quality improvement and new product integration.
• Analyse organisational structure, staffing and resources to meet facility goals, and plan the production volume needed for each product.
• Manage all salaried staff and functions, including Human Resources, production managers and supervisors, environmental health and safety and quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 8-10 years of progressive management experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• 8-10 years of experience managing and leading a team.
