QA Technician - 2nd Shift

About the role

Meijer is hiring a QA Technician for the second shift at its Middlebury facility. The role organizes, executes and monitors quality and food safety activities, and helps develop and administer quality and food safety policies so that incoming raw materials, packaging and finished goods meet corporate specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with affiliate, regulatory and industry quality standards, including GMP, SQF and sanitation standards, through monitoring and reporting.
• Promote plant safety and environmental programs that meet corporate and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain quality and food safety manuals so policies and procedures stay current and compliant.
• Conduct quality and food safety training for plant personnel as required.
• Assist the Quality Manager in developing quality and food safety systems, and help the Leadership Team with third-party audits and inspections.
• Provide technical production support during trials, covering GMPs, sanitation and ingredient and product wholesomeness.
• Lead the evaluation of consumer complaints and corrective actions, and lead the HACCP program.
• Coordinate storage and rework of quality control hold products, and keep leadership informed of quality and sanitation issues affecting production.
• Provide supervisory leadership when the Department Quality Manager is unavailable.

Required profile

• Preferred: four-year degree in Food Science, Science or a related discipline.
• One year of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• General knowledge or training in food safety, HACCP and SQF preferred.
• Ability to analyze data, work under pressure, communicate clearly at all levels, and work both independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Food safety, HACCP and SQF knowledge preferred.
