SBO Billing Specialist – Full-Time Day Shift

About the role

The SBO Billing Specialist provides customer service and financial counseling for patient balances, handling both hospital and physician billing inquiries. This full‑time, day‑shift position involves inbound and outbound calls to resolve patient questions and payment issues.

Key responsibilities

• Answer patient questions about coinsurance, copays, deductibles, contractual adjustments and discounts.
• Contact guarantors about past‑due balances and process payments using secured devices and banking portals.
• Explain insurance coverage and payment options, including monthly plans and bank‑loan financing.
• Screen and process financial assistance applications for patients.
• Distinguish billing complaints from patient‑care complaints and forward the latter to Guest Relations.
• Reconcile business banking and credit‑card accounts while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in healthcare billing or customer service preferred.
• Medical billing experience highly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with billing software/electronic data submission.
