Sales Engineer for Custom Installers (AV Systems)

About the role

AVA's first Sales Engineer will help pro AV installers adopt, sell and install AVA control systems, including the AVA Cinema Remote. The role is remote, full time, and offers strong autonomy as you define a new function within an innovative startup. It bridges customer requirements, system design, field deployment and post-installation support, and requires regular travel within the territory.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure, commission and validate AV and control systems, and develop system architecture across audio, video, control and networking components.
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues, perform root-cause analysis and give technical guidance during deployment and after installation.
• Help build intuitive, user-friendly control interfaces.
• Collect feedback from dealers, owners and partners on product improvements and new features.
• Work with Sales on customer opportunities, solution design, competitive positioning and market development.
• Partner with Technical Support on complex hardware and software issues.
• Support trade shows, customer training events and technical demonstrations.
• Travel regularly (~75%) within the assigned region, mostly by personal vehicle and occasionally by air.

Required profile

• 3-5+ years of professional experience in AV systems engineering, commissioning or integration.
• Solid familiarity with the CI and/or Pro AV channel, business and technical side.
• Strong knowledge of residential automation and control platforms.
• Experience with automation configuration, logic and user interfaces.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, and strong written and verbal communication with customers and internal teams.
• Preferred: experience with Control4, RTI, Josh AI, Crestron Home, Savant, AV-over-IP, API integrations, REST APIs, Wi-Fi design, and customer training or technical presentations.
