Sales Account Executive, Custom

About the role

The Sales Account Executive, Custom will acquire, negotiate and sell custom published adoptions and original authored works for Macmillan Learning Curriculum Solutions. The role involves extensive travel across the Rocky Mountain and Pacific Northwest region, engaging with colleges and universities through on‑campus visits, virtual meetings and conferences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute selling techniques, deliver presentations, campus visits and attend conferences.
• Network with decision‑makers such as instructors, lab coordinators, deans, procurement and digital technology executives.
• Create sales materials, proposals, mock‑ups and samples tailored to customer needs.
• Collaborate with internal partners, coordinate resources and handoff new customers to Project Editors.
• Facilitate RFIs/RFPs, meet annual sales goals and maintain CRM data.
• Analyze pricing, forecast sales performance and provide market intelligence.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and minimum 3 years of higher‑education publishing experience.
• Proven ability to drive strategic sales shifts and innovate outreach models.
• Strong presentation skills, technical proficiency and comfort adapting to market changes.
• Passion for emerging educational technologies and digital learning tools.

Required skills

• Higher‑education custom publishing experience.
• Experience with generative AI tools for proposal and pricing creation.
• Knowledge of digital courseware platforms, LMS integrations, inclusive access models and AI‑enhanced learning tools.
