RN Surgery – Cole Eye Operating Room

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute is seeking a Registered Nurse to support ophthalmology surgeries. This part‑time position rotates through pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative phases, offering training in both circulating and scrubbing roles.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients for eye surgery and provide post‑operative education.
• Assist the operating physician with tasks such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Perform circulating duties, including monitoring patient condition, documenting events, and managing overall nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Perform scrub functions, selecting and handling instruments and supplies.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Current state RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
• At least one year of RN experience or completion of Cleveland Clinic peri‑operative residency.

Required skills

• Circulating and scrubbing experience or peri‑operative training.
• Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as described in physical requirements.
• Proficiency in operating room protocols and standard precautions.
