Histotechnologist – Immunohistochemistry

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a skilled Histotechnologist to join its Immunohistochemistry laboratory on the Main Campus. Working evenings, you will prepare high‑quality tissue samples that support accurate diagnoses and critical treatment decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and developmental immunohistochemistry and molecular laboratory techniques, including in‑situ hybridization.
• Embed, cut, and prepare frozen or paraffin‑embedded tissue sections for various procedures.
• Transport tissue specimens to the laboratory and file surgical/autopsy blocks for immunohistochemical use.
• Mount, label, and distribute prepared microscope slides.
• Prepare reagent buffers, solutions, and stains; replace reagents and maintain automated instrumentation daily.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field, or meet CLIA qualifications for Histotechnologist (HTL).
• ASCP‑certified Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) or eligibility for certification.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements for chemical hygiene and bloodborne pathogens.
• Physical ability to handle specimens, use instrumentation, and follow standard precautions with personal protective equipment.
