RN Specialist – Endoscopy 7a – 5:30p – Vary Start

About the role

The RN Specialist in Endoscopy provides comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures at Akron General Medical Center. The role includes flexible start times, on‑call duties, and cross‑training across operative areas.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients for endoscopy, assess pre‑op status, and ensure all consents and documentation are complete.
• Support physicians during procedures, operate endoscopy equipment, label specimens, and communicate with anesthesia providers.
• Monitor patient stability, manage post‑operative care, and complete accurate discharge documentation.
• Participate in decontamination, sterilization, and maintain unit safety and privacy standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) with an active Ohio RN license.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience; recent endoscopy experience preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required within six months of hire).
• Membership in a professional nursing society is a plus.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Proficiency with endoscopy equipment and specimen labeling.
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting.
