Revenue Accountant

About the role

Mirantis, a Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure company, is hiring a revenue accountant in Austin. The role covers revenue recognition and contract accounting, month-end close, process improvement and audit support.

Key responsibilities

• Review customer contracts, order forms, amendments and related documentation to determine revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606, and evaluate performance obligations and transaction price allocation.
• Analyze revenue arrangements such as subscriptions, software licenses, maintenance, support, professional services and training, and prepare revenue recognition schedules and supporting documentation.
• Identify non-standard terms (material rights, variable consideration, contract modifications, principal versus agent) and escalate complex arrangements for technical accounting review.
• Perform monthly revenue close, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, contract assets and liabilities, journal entries, reconciliations and analytical reviews of revenue trends.
• Investigate discrepancies between Salesforce, NetSuite, billing systems and revenue schedules, and support monthly, quarterly and year-end close.
• Partner with Accounting Operations, Billing, Sales Operations, Deal Desk and IT to improve contract flow and automation, and support deal booking with Sales and Deal Desk.
• Prepare audit-ready documentation and assist with quarterly and annual audits, including technical accounting inquiries and contract selections.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 3-5 years of revenue accounting experience, with a strong preference for technology industry experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606, and experience reviewing contracts and turning them into accounting conclusions.
• Experience with SaaS, software, technology or other consumption-based businesses preferred.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines, and good written and verbal communication.
