Respiratory Therapist (PRN)

About the role

Appling Healthcare is hiring a Respiratory Therapist for a PRN position in Baxley, Georgia. Working under the indirect consultation of the respiratory department's medical director and the direct supervision of the Respiratory Manager, the therapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients with lung or breathing conditions, following the Respiratory Scope of Care (Policy NMRRTP0078).

Key responsibilities

• Provide oxygen therapy, humidity and aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, PFTs, ABGs, ventilator care, intubation and other assigned respiratory care.
• Perform CPR and maintain current ACLS certification; administer medications and therapies according to physician orders and policy.
• Perform oxygen and equipment rounds, collect and interpret arterial blood gases and maintain quality control of ABG analysis.
• Troubleshoot basic equipment problems and document procedures and departmental records accurately.
• Take part in continuous quality improvement, in-service education, special projects and mandatory meetings.
• Report clinical problems, personnel issues and schedule requests to the supervisor or department manager.

Required profile

• RRT licensed by the State of Georgia (RCP), with CEUs maintained as required.
• Current CPR and ACLS certifications.
• Extensive experience across respiratory care, including diagnostic testing, therapeutics, monitoring, rehabilitation, home care and patient/family education.
• Ability to assess and provide individualized care for patients of all ages, and to work under stress and beyond normal hours.

Required skills

• Respiratory care procedures such as oxygen therapy, ABG analysis and ventilator care.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
