Researcher – Background Screening

About the role

The Researcher processes products related to pre-employment background applications, including motor vehicle records, civil and criminal court cases and registries, drug testing and OFAC checks. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (with daylight saving time adjustment), and training and onboarding last 1 to 3 months on site, with the possibility of moving to remote work depending on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Retrieve and enter data from computer and web-based systems, files and documents about applicants' histories
• Search internet databases and perform extensive online inquiries to investigate and adjudicate criminal records
• Use software to deliver instant criminal results to clients
• Analyze collected information to spot problems or discrepancies
• Contact clients and outside resources by phone to verify information
• Update order statuses and handle confidential information responsibly
• Monitor and implement processing and system changes

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in a related field
• Customer service, research or investigation experience
• Internet research experience; legal/court system and background screening experience preferred
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software
• Data entry and spreadsheet/database commands
