Research Scientist – Faculty in Public Health

About the role

The School of Public and Allied Health at Prairie View A&M University seeks an accomplished Research Scientist to lead applied, translational public‑health research. This faculty position offers the opportunity to develop innovative solutions, secure external funding, and mentor the next generation of public‑health leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and conduct independent and collaborative research on epidemiology, health promotion, chronic disease prevention, behavioral health, or community‑engaged topics.
• Develop competitive grant proposals and secure federal, state, foundation, or industry funding.
• Publish high‑impact research findings and present at national and international conferences.
• Ensure compliance with university, state, federal, and sponsor policies.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, junior scientists, and support workforce‑development programs.
• Build partnerships with community organizations, public‑health agencies, and other stakeholders to advance research initiatives.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Public Health, Epidemiology, Population Health, Environmental Health, Health Promotion, Health Data Analytics, or a closely related field.
• At least six (6) years of research experience in public health or a related discipline.

Required skills

• Proficiency with data‑analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, R, or STATA.
• Knowledge of epidemiological and biostatistical methods and research design.
