About the role

The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the head athletic trainer, student‑athletes, team physicians, and coaches by providing injury prevention, recognition, treatment, and emergency care during athletic events.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver athletic training services to varsity student‑athletes, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, acute care, and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records, daily injury reports, and annual injury summaries.
  • Supervise clinical experiences of athletic training students and assist the AT Program Director.
  • Organize and coordinate inventory of athletic training equipment and supplies.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate graduate assistant athletic trainers.
  • Provide coverage for all home and away events as assigned.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree (no prior experience required).
  • Board of Certification (BOC) certification.
  • Texas athletic trainer license or temporary permit by date of hire.

Required skills

  • General knowledge of NCAA rules.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
