Research Associate – Agricultural Economics

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Economic Research Department is seeking a Research Associate focused on agricultural economics. Based in Omaha, the role supports innovative analysis of agricultural finance, trade, production, and regional markets to inform monetary policy and industry engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with economists on policy briefings, external presentations, and research projects related to agricultural economics and finance.
• Collect, analyze, and summarize agricultural economic data; create charts for presentations on agricultural and regional conditions.
• Oversee quarterly surveys of agricultural credit and lending conditions.
• Assist in planning and organizing agricultural conferences, industry meetings, and roundtables.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, agricultural economics, or a closely related field with an agricultural focus.
• Strong academic record and experience with empirical research and data analysis.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S. for at least two years without sponsorship (including F‑1 visa holders with STEM OPT).

Required skills

• Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as Stata, R, Python, or Matlab.
