Remote Substation Project Engineer

About the role

Leidos is looking for a Substation Project Engineer to join its Power Delivery Services team. The position is fully remote, with occasional client and in-office travel, and candidates must be located in the United States, preferably in the Central Time Zone. It sits in a design team of engineers, designers and CAD technicians and covers the full project lifecycle, from scoping to final design and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute substation physical and P&C projects, including quality control checks on designs
• Read and design drawings such as one-line, three-line, schematics, wiring, plan-section, conduit and grounding drawings
• Create and check bills of materials, estimates and schedules
• Support construction and occasionally attend site visits at the customer location
• Work with client standards and with a designer/drafter to produce the required drawings

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, with 4+ years of related substation design experience
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with internal teams and clients
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure, self-starter who works independently, and collaborator who works well in a team
• Strong analytical skills and proven problem-solving ability

• WinIGS or CDEGS
• CAD tools
• Nice to have: PE license, EI/EIT certification, bus calculations, relay settings, grounding and lightning studies, AC/DC calculations, field testing and commissioning experience
