Principal Transmission Line Engineer (Part-Time)

About the role

Leidos is seeking a Principal Transmission Line Engineer to work part-time (29 hours or less) in a remote or teleworker US setting. The engineer leads a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, solving challenging problems for electric transmission line design projects. The role is a principal engineering position in a growing design team of engineers, designers and drafting technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Apply NESC, ASCE and other applicable standards to the engineering and design of electric transmission projects, including new capacity and infrastructure replacement projects.
• Perform design reviews regularly and develop junior staff members.
• Contribute to bids and proposal development.
• Make site visits to client substation facilities and attend occasional client meetings and industry events.
• Comply with quality control and safe work practices, and meet project scope, schedule and budget expectations.

Required profile

• 12+ years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
• P.E. license.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%; experience in front-facing client operations such as lunch and learns and kick-off meetings is preferred.

• Microsoft Office suite
• Knowledge of NESC code requirements, construction cost estimating, specifications, material procurement, project schedules and work packages is desired
