Registered Respiratory Therapist – Sign‑on Bonus

About the role

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver comprehensive respiratory care to patients with pulmonary disorders. The role involves administering therapy, monitoring mechanical ventilation, and collaborating with physicians to optimize treatment plans.

Key responsibilities

• Administer physician‑prescribed respiratory therapies, including oxygen, medications, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), arterial blood gases (ABGs), and mechanical ventilation.
• Perform invasive and non‑invasive evaluations to determine respiratory needs and make protocol‑based recommendations.
• Monitor patients on mechanical ventilation, conduct routine rounds, troubleshoot equipment, and assist with weaning and airway care.
• Collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath specimens, and provide diagnostic results and treatment suggestions.

Required profile

• Graduate of an AMA‑approved School of Respiratory Care.
• Less than 1 year of related experience for new graduates; up to 1 year for experienced candidates.
• RRT certification (National Board for Respiratory Care) within 1 year of hire.
• ACLS certification within 60 days of hire and Pennsylvania RCP license upon hire.

Required skills

• Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators, PFT and ABG analyzers.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain diagnostic respiratory devices.
• Knowledge of mechanical ventilation management and weaning protocols.
• Competence in performing and interpreting arterial blood gases and pulmonary function tests.
