Registered Polysomnographic Technologist

About the role

The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of sleep disorders under the supervision of the sleep center medical director. This position involves patient education, equipment setup, monitoring, and reporting to ensure high‑quality sleep studies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and set up sleep study equipment, verify orders, explain procedures, and apply electrodes and sensors.
• Conduct polysomnographic studies, continuously monitor patients, and intervene with airway pressure or oxygen as needed.
• Educate patients on home sleep testing equipment and perform portable monitoring preparation and data download.
• Identify artifacts, inadequate signals, and study failures; generate accurate final reports for physician review.
• Score polysomnographic records according to AASM parameters and document clinical events.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, sterilization, and routine maintenance.
• Participate in performance improvement, quality assurance, and cost‑effective care delivery.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Successful completion of college‑level math and science coursework.
• RPSGT certification (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) – Pennsylvania state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Required skills

• Proficiency with polysomnography equipment setup and monitoring.
• Knowledge of AASM scoring criteria.
• Experience using the EPIC electronic health record system.
• Basic Life Support, CPR, and AED operation.
