Perinatal Sonographer

About the role

The Perinatal Sonographer will perform high‑risk obstetric ultrasound examinations and procedures following AIUM protocols. This position supports physicians by providing accurate diagnostic imaging and patient education within a nationally recognized health network.

Key responsibilities

• Record anatomical, pathological and physiological data for physician interpretation and maintain electronic patient charts.
• Select appropriate transducers, adjust equipment, and optimize images based on fetal position and tissue characteristics.
• Identify equipment malfunctions and take corrective action when possible.
• Explain procedures to patients, obtain medical histories, and prepare preliminary reports as requested.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED plus Technical School Diploma in Ultrasonography or Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• Ability to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies and implement advanced imaging techniques (3D/4D) when applicable.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification (state of Pennsylvania) within 90 days of hire.
• RDMS (Reg Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) and ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification upon hire.

Required skills

• Operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment, including 3D/4D imaging.
• Proficiency with EMR and ultrasound documentation/reporting systems.
• Knowledge of AIUM protocols and sonographic assessment techniques.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) skills.
