Registered Nurse – Surgery (Operating Room)

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System at Hillcrest Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the surgical team in Mayfield Heights. You will work in a high‑tech, patient‑focused environment, assisting surgeons and supporting the peri‑operative process.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care in the operating room for adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions, including selecting, handling, and passing instruments and supplies.
• Perform circulating duties such as monitoring patient condition, documenting events, and managing overall nursing care before, during, and after surgery.
• Assist the operating physician with tasks like hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments, and equipment for each case.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Current state RN licensure.
• Minimum one year RN experience or completion of Cleveland Clinic peri‑operative residency.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.

• Instrument handling and surgical set‑up.

• Knowledge of infection control and standard precautions.
