Registered Nurse Supervisor / Charge Nurse

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Registered Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse for the Admissions Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta. This evening shift position involves organizing the shift, maintaining order, and supervising nursing staff and health support technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Organize shift activities, complete nurse‑to‑nurse reports, and supervise staff in ERs, CSUs, and the jail.
• Assess client health problems, record vital signs, administer medications, and coordinate with physicians or psychiatrists for orders.
• Prepare patients for examinations, maintain accurate client records, and ensure safety by checking for contraband.
• Provide patient education, health maintenance advice, and referrals to social services as needed.

Required profile

• Associate degree in nursing from an accredited program and a current Georgia RN license.
• Four years of professional nursing experience, including at least two years in a lead, team‑leader, or supervisory role.
• Current CPR certification; ability to perform CPR and, where required, AED.
• Preference for experience in mental health settings.

Required skills

• Medication administration (oral, sublingual, IM) and pharmacology knowledge.
• Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, protocols, and the Nurse Practice Act.
• Ability to assess, plan, and provide basic nursing care and develop care plans.
• CPR and AED competency.
