Registered Nurse PRN

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Registered Nurse PRN to work in the Admissions Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta. This per‑diem position offers day shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, providing direct nursing care to patients in a behavioral health setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assess client health problems, complete vital signs, and document findings.
• Review current medications and treatments, notify physicians/psychiatrists, and obtain orders.
• Administer medications (oral, sublingual, IM) and provide nursing care as needed.
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, maintain sterile instruments and supplies.
• Monitor diet, symptoms, and changes in client conditions; record and report observations.
• Provide health education, first aid, and referrals to social services when appropriate.

Required skills

• Basic nursing skills including assessment, planning, and care delivery.
• Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, protocols, and the Nurse Practice Act.
• Medication administration expertise and pharmacology knowledge.
• Ability to perform CPR and operate an AED where required.
