Registered Nurse PCU Medical Seasonal

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Registered Nurse for its PCU medical unit in Tarpon Springs, Florida. This is a full-time day-shift seasonal position, paid at $55 per hour plus night and weekend shift differentials. The nurse assesses patients, plans and delivers care, and works with the patient, family and the health care team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and analyze the health status of patients on the assigned unit and complete assessments within policy and unit standards.
• Report significant findings to the health care team and initiate discharge planning after admission.
• Plan and update the individualized plan of care, then direct and coordinate patient care activities.
• Communicate the plan of care through daily worksheet conferences, verbal handovers and shift reports, and document assessments, interventions and patient responses.
• Transcribe and direct the implementation of physician orders and provide patient education based on assessed needs.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and include patients and families in the evaluation process.
• Complete competency testing and skills validation, attend in-services and 80% of department meetings, and take part in performance improvement activities such as Core Measures.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
• PRN: 2+ years of RN experience (required); RN: 1+ year preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current RN license, Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and ACLS certification (all required).
• Ability to adapt care to the needs of the patient populations served, such as age groups, size and diagnosis.
