Registered Respiratory Therapist III

About the role

AdventHealth North Pinellas is hiring a full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist III in Tarpon Springs, Florida. The role covers acute care respiratory care, including mechanical ventilation, airway management and support of cardiopulmonary diagnostics, with a pay range of $28.97 to $53.88.

Key responsibilities

• Recommend changes in respiratory care plans based on documented medical necessity and protocols
• Instruct and coach patients before, during and after treatment, and adjust therapies using pulse oximetry, peak flow, chest x-ray and lab work
• Train and instruct cardiopulmonary staff and supervise student preceptorship programs
• Initiate and maintain mechanical ventilation, reevaluating the patient/ventilator interface every four hours
• Draw and analyze arterial blood gases, place arterial lines and recommend changes in respiratory management
• Respond to emergencies, establish and maintain airways and perform CPR
• Support cardiopulmonary diagnostics: cardiac stress testing, Holter monitors, ECGs, pulmonary function testing and EEGs
• Assist with conscious sedation, bronchothermaplasty, bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound and trans-radial band removal
• Supervise cardiopulmonary care delivery and monitor patient progress through assessment and reassessment

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy school or equivalent training
• 3+ years of hospital experience as an RRT
• Acute care experience and expertise in blood gas laboratory management
• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license and active NBRC credential
• ACLS, BLS/CPR and PALS certification; S.T.A.B.L.E. preferred
• Associate degree required; Bachelor's preferred; field of study in Respiratory Care or Cardiopulmonary Science

Required skills

• Patient care across neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric populations
• Intubations, airway management and ventilator management (preferred)
• Arterial line placement (preferred)
• Routine assessment of respiratory status and thorough documentation
