Registered Nurse - Med Surg Post Op

About the role

AdventHealth in Hinsdale, Illinois, is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its Med Surg Post Op unit. The schedule is 36 hours per week, days 6:45 am to 7:15 pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. Starting pay is $37.50 per hour, with a pay range of $33.94 to $57.08.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, reviewing and revising them regularly.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications and self-care.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients and families.
• Supervise and delegate care provided by other team members.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and respond promptly to code situations.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Associate's degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's preferred.
• Fluent in English, read, spoken and written.
• 1+ year of acute care hospital experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required.
• Preferred certifications include CCNS, NEONATAL MED, NRP, PEARS, RDMS-OBGYN, TNCC, ABLS, CCRN-E, CLC, ONS, SCR, GERO-BC and others.

Required skills

• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
• Ability to work as a team player within a unit.
• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions and revise care plans.
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows-based programs.
• EKG assessment (based on patient; see EKG and ALS requirements).
