Assistant Nurse Manager, Medical-Surgical

About the role

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Hinsdale, Illinois, is hiring a full-time Assistant Nurse Manager for its medical-surgical unit. The schedule is 36 hours per week, days 6:30 am to 7:00 pm with rotating weekends, and the pay range is $37.13 to $69.07.

Key responsibilities

• Perform venous access procedures within the scope of RN licensure, assess patients' conditions and develop individualized care plans for venous access and infusion therapy.
• Administer and monitor infusion therapy treatments, adjust care plans and educate patients on venous access and infusion therapy.
• Monitor nursing staff performance, give feedback, run appraisals and implement improvement plans.
• Mentor and precept new staff, organize training programs and resolve staff conflicts through mediation.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing data and improving patient care and operational efficiency.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and the healthcare team, and ensure compliance with hospital policies.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Associate's degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's preferred.
• At least 1 year of charge nurse or relevant leadership experience; 2-3 years of current RN experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
• Preferred certifications include CCNS, CMSRN, CRNI, NRP-A, MEDSURG-BC, CNOR, CPAN, PCCN, PEARS, SE, VA-BC, S.T.A.B.L.E., AVADE and GERO-BC.

Required skills

• Leadership of a unit and ability to lead performance improvement initiatives.
• Clinical practice knowledge and ability to manage the business of healthcare delivery on the unit, including productivity and financial practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and basic computer skills, including an electronic health record.
