Registered Nurse – Critical Care Unit

About the role

Provide professional nursing care in the Critical Care Unit of Lehigh Valley Health Network, delivering assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with hospital policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for designated patients, collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
• Utilize evidence‑based practice, participate in quality improvement and research projects.
• Educate patients and families throughout the treatment course and support smooth transitions of care.
• Perform validated technical skills specific to the critical care specialty and incorporate technology to enhance care delivery.
• Teach, mentor and precept new colleagues and interns, delegating tasks based on skill and patient acuity.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current RN license in Pennsylvania.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and manage patient care assignments.
• Successful completion of unit orientation and maintenance of unit‑specific competencies.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to work night shift (7 p‑7 a).

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – American Heart Association.
• Basic computer skills.
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) – State of Pennsylvania.
