Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Operating Room

About the role

The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) at Mercy Hospital needs a Registered Nurse to provide peri‑operative care for patients undergoing cardiac surgery, including open‑heart procedures, robotic and minimally invasive operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care before, during and after surgical or invasive procedures in the CVOR.
• Perform scrub functions such as selecting, handling and passing instruments and supplies.
• Perform circulating functions, monitoring patient condition, documenting data and managing overall patient care.
• Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments and equipment for each case.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
• Current state RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• One year RN experience or completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program.
• BSN preferred.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire (or already held).

Required skills

• Scrub and circulating competencies in a cardiovascular operating environment.
• Ability to handle and pass surgical instruments with precision.
• Patient monitoring and documentation during procedures.
