Advance Practice Provider – Trauma Service (Night Shift)

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA, or CNS) to join the Trauma Service on the night shift. The APP will evaluate and manage admitted trauma patients across regular floors, ICU, and the emergency department.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive histories, physical exams, and order/interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostics.
• Manage trauma activations in the ED and provide bedside procedures such as suturing and chest tube insertion.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams during rounds and care planning.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state and institutional guidelines.
• Participate in quality monitoring, discharge planning, and education of patients and staff.

Required profile

• Current licensure as an NP, PA, or CNS in the applicable state(s) with national certification.
• MSN (or equivalent) for APRNs; Master’s degree for PAs; required certifications (BLS, ACLS/PALS, ATLS within one year if not already held).
• Experience in ICU, surgery, or trauma preferred; new graduates with relevant experience considered.

Required skills

• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Proficiency in suturing and chest tube insertion per hospital privileging policies.
• Ability to order, interpret, and act on laboratory and radiologic results.
