Receiver – Shipping & Receiving Specialist

About the role

The Receiver is responsible for unloading, unpacking, and processing incoming supplies as well as coordinating outgoing package deliveries. This position works with electronic systems and handheld devices to generate reports, verify packing lists, and ensure timely delivery of materials throughout the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in unloading and sorting incoming shipments from commercial freight lines.
• Count and verify quantities against packing lists, inspect items for damage, and sign for goods.
• Notify Supply Chain Purchasing of discrepancies or damaged goods and file damage claims.
• Process Fed‑Ex, UPS, and express packages using electronic handheld devices, prioritizing rush items.
• Match deliveries to purchase order numbers and generate receiving reports.
• Deliver freight to designated locations and obtain recipient signatures for special purchases.
• Support workflow during periods of high census and assist with special purchase item deliveries.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, warehousing, or inventory management.
• Basic understanding of supply chain fundamentals.
• Strong customer service and problem‑solving attitude.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing processes or technology.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic handheld devices for inventory purposes.
• Ability to use laptop or desktop computers for data entry and reporting.
