Buyer – Procurement & Contracts for Gas Operations

About the role

The Buyer supports Delta Utilities’ gas operations by managing purchasing activities, contracts, and vendor relationships. This position requires strong time‑management, communication, and detail‑orientation in a fast‑moving, startup‑like environment.

Key responsibilities

• Convert requisitions into purchase orders for goods, services, and construction projects supporting gas utility, fleet, and corporate needs.
• Draft, review, and negotiate purchase orders and blanket contracts, ensuring correct accounting codes.
• Collaborate with legal, procurement, and operational teams to maintain compliance with policies and regulations.
• Facilitate vendor setup, invoice resolution, and delivery coordination.
• Identify risks, recommend improvements, and report on PO status throughout the lifecycle.
• Assist Strategic Sourcing with contract creation, bid events, and supplier reviews.
• Support the supply‑chain team with reports, PowerPoint presentations, and training documentation.
• Help develop and implement standard operating procedures and streamline contract workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, legal studies, or related field (or 5 years purchasing experience in lieu of a degree).
• Minimum 5 years of purchasing or contract‑management experience.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

• Oracle WACs (contract and purchase order management system).
• Microsoft PowerPoint for creating presentations and training materials.
