Radiofrequency Engineer (RF) ES3

About the role

Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) is looking for a Radiofrequency Engineer (RF) ES3 to support space-rated RF communication system designs. The engineer provides RF analysis, simulation and development support, and inter-operability analysis in a multi-system electromagnetic environment for programs supporting NASA's Moon Base Utilities and Infrastructure Group, Deep Space Communications and future RF infrastructures. The work is done in an office environment with occasional domestic travel.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze existing transmitter, receiver and antenna designs
• Take part in requirements and data reviews, giving input and comments
• Support test campaigns in internal and external laboratories
• Support and generate RF subsystem trade studies
• Perform link margin analyses using various modulation protocols and environmental influences
• Write or collaborate on communication system design and analysis reports
• Create computational models of antennas, antenna systems and spacecraft
• Perform RF interference and RF compatibility analyses
• Provide procurement specifications for RF components and subsystems

Required profile

• US citizen (proof of citizenship required)
• Degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited university and 5+ years of experience in antenna and RF systems design, test and evaluation
• Ph.D. with some experience, or M.S. with at least 3 years of experience, or B.S. with at least 5-10 years of experience
• Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, work independently and travel domestically (about 5%); normal hours 7:30-4:30, Mon-Fri, with minimal possible overtime

Required skills

• Familiarity with Visual Basic, MathCAD and/or MATLAB, ANSYS HFSS, GPS/GNSS simulators and PNT/communication waveform analyzers (BPSK, QAM, QPSK) and LabVIEW (experience preferred)
