Public Health Registered Nurse – Twiggs County

About the role

The Georgia Department of Public Health seeks a Public Health Registered Nurse to join the Twiggs County Health Department. You will provide direct patient care, focus on disease prevention, and support emergency response efforts in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care, administer medications and vaccines, and order laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Provide health education, counseling, and referrals, and document all activities in the electronic medical record system.
• Perform women’s wellness services, contraceptive counseling, TB testing, STD screening, child health and vision screenings, and on‑site waived lab testing.
• Maintain knowledge of the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program and enroll eligible patients.
• Participate in emergency preparedness planning, community health education, and district program meetings.

Required profile

• Associate degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• At least one year of nursing experience and current Georgia RN license with CPR certification.
• Completion of a Public Health Nursing course within one year of hire.
• Ability to work under general supervision and adapt to changing organizational needs.
