Project Engineer (LT&C Tanks)

About the role

CB&I is hiring a Project Engineer for its LT&C Tanks project in Plainfield, Illinois. The engineer is an individual contributor who manages all or part of the engineering scope of a project, including engineering deliverables, and gives direction to the engineering and design discipline leads. The role reports to the Manager of Engineering and works closely with clients and functions such as project management, procurement, subcontracting and estimating.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direction and coordinate the engineering and design discipline leads on an assigned project
• Lead execution of engineering deliverables, including schedule, budget, document controls and staffing
• Set up project procedures so deliverables meet client and engineering requirements
• Ensure effective communication among engineering disciplines and review work with the client, management and functional leads
• Identify problems and manage changes proactively
• Support day-to-day coordination of design and detailing, and coordinate LT&C Tank, Topsides, Foundation and Process engineering
• Handle project set-up, tracking and reporting, miscellaneous structural calculations, and writing and checking project specifications
• Create specification and material requisitions, support research, design activities and testing, and liaise with operations and the client

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering from an accredited school
• 0 to 2 years of industry experience in engineering
• Professional engineering registration is desired, or a desire to obtain it
• Ability to work in a team and eventually lead a team

Required skills

• Understanding of AISC, ASCE, IBC, API and ACI structural codes
• Proficient verbal and written communication
• Problem-solving and judgment based on technical experience and precedents
