Project Controls Specialist

About the role

CB&I, which delivers storage and asset-management solutions, is hiring a Project Controls Specialist in Plainfield, Illinois. Working with the project team under the guidance of the Manager, Project Controls, the specialist covers planning and scheduling, financial management, project reporting, change management, progress measurement and risk management. The position is based at the regional operations office and may involve temporary assignments to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Financial management: create the CBS and original budgets from as-sold estimates, manage budgets through contract execution and closeout, monitor commitments and actual spend, and support invoicing
• Planning and scheduling: lead the development of the WBS and project schedule, support operations on personnel requirements, run critical path analysis and schedule reviews, and propose recovery plans for delays
• Progress measurement: develop and run the progress measurement process and report regularly
• Change management: identify changes, estimate and price them, and report to the client and internally
• Risk management: review and analyze risks regularly
• Reporting: develop and maintain internal and client reports, and support the Project Manager during management and client reviews

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
• 5+ years of EPC experience in Project Controls
• Organization level N5+; reports to the Manager, Project Controls
• Construction experience and planning acumen; able to interpret contract provisions
• Willing and able to travel for business trips, meetings or training

Required skills

• Project scheduling techniques and proficiency in Primavera P6
• Cost analysis and estimate-at-completion forecasting, preferably in JDE Enterprise or similar cost accounting software
• Estimating, change management, progress measurement and risk management techniques
• MS Excel and databases
