Project Development Manager (Engineering, Business Development, Remote)
GATESOURCE HR · Richmond
Job description
About the role
Gatesource HR is partnering with a leading global player in mineral processing and engineering solutions to find a Project Development Manager to drive growth across North America. This is a frontline, field-based commercial role focused on building business through early engagement at customer sites, rather than responding to inbound tenders. The role works directly with plant operations and project stakeholders to turn operational challenges into revenue-generating projects such as engineering studies, plant upgrades and modular processing solutions. It is remote, and candidates must be based in the USA with working rights.
Key responsibilities
- Spend significant time on-site with customers across North America, identifying operational challenges and improvement opportunities firsthand.
- Build relationships with plant managers, process engineers and project leaders, and engage early, before projects are formally defined or tendered.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of engineering studies, brownfield upgrades and modular plant and capital solutions, owning a personal revenue target.
- Drive complex sales cycles involving technical and commercial stakeholders, and lead opportunities from concept through negotiation to contract award.
- Translate plant issues into scoped, costed solutions and partner with engineering teams to develop executable proposals.
- Position modular and capital equipment solutions, identify expansion, upgrade and retrofit opportunities, and build long-term relationships for repeat business.
- Provide market feedback to support product and commercial strategy, qualify deals by strategic fit, risk and margin, and define win strategies early.
- Maintain accurate forecasts and CRM discipline, and contribute to improving sales tools, messaging and win rates.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or a related field.
- 8-10+ years of experience in technical and commercial roles in engineering consulting, EPC/EPCM, capital equipment or mining/mineral processing.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Experience developing business before the formal RFP/tender stage, and in plant upgrades, process improvements or engineering studies.
- Experience selling or supporting capital equipment and modular solutions.
- Willingness to travel extensively across North America and internationally as required.
