Professor of Cell and Systems Biology

About the role

The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine seeks a dynamic faculty member to lead an independent research program in cell and systems biology. The professor will contribute to cutting‑edge basic biomedical research, mentor graduate and post‑doctoral trainees, and participate in graduate education.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an independent, federally funded research program in cell, molecular, developmental, stem‑cell, or systems biology.
• Teach and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and medical fellows.
• Publish high‑impact scientific findings and present at national conferences.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs such as Cancer Biology and Neuroscience.
• Contribute to curriculum development and graduate course instruction.

Required profile

• Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent with a strong record of research accomplishments.
• Demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding, preferably federal.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community.
• Potential for academic leadership and independent group management.
