Production Supervisor - Casting, Finishing, Melting

About the role

McWane Ductile New Jersey manufactures iron ductile pipes (3" to 24" diameter) and is looking for a Production Supervisor in Phillipsburg. The supervisor oversees and coordinates daily manufacturing operations across the casting, finishing and melting areas, ensuring safety, quality and production goals are met in a heavy industrial environment while leading teams of about 15 to 35 hourly employees.

Key responsibilities

• Lead teams of 15-35 hourly employees, assign duties and monitor performance against production targets, quality standards and safety expectations.
• Enforce safety policies, OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures and safety programs, and conduct regular safety audits and observations.
• Monitor machinery and processes, identify malfunctions and coordinate repairs or adjustments.
• Inspect materials and products at every stage for compliance with quality specifications.
• Plan daily operations from production schedules, job orders and customer requirements, and adjust staffing and workflows to meet demand.
• Maintain accurate production records (timekeeping, output, scrap, performance) and analyze data to find improvements.
• Work with Maintenance, Quality and other departments, complete required employee training, and administer discipline and performance issues per company policy.
• Support continuous improvement, troubleshoot operational issues and perform or assist with hands-on production tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment; heavy industrial or foundry experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to supervise labor-intensive work and work in harsh conditions such as high heat, outdoor exposure and physical demands.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork and quality focus, with adaptability to shift changes and new roles.

Required skills

• Industrial safety practices (lockout/tagout, safety audits, JSA)
• Computer skills to maintain production and quality records

The expected salary range is $85,000 to $95,000 per year. Candidates must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening and physical; the workplace is drug and alcohol free.
