Industrial Maintenance Electrical Technician

About the role

McWane Ductile's New Jersey facility (previously Atlantic States) is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Electrical Technician. You will install, test and maintain electrical systems, troubleshoot and repair equipment, and make sure all wiring and components meet safety codes. The pay is between $28.08 and $31.08.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components with test equipment and hand tools to find and fix the cause of breakdowns.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers and other components.
• Inspect electrical systems and circuit continuity with devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety.
• Plan the layout and installation of wiring and equipment according to job specifications and local codes.
• Follow blueprints to locate wiring and equipment and ensure conformance to building safety codes.
• Environmental training may be required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or an Associate Degree in Electrical Technologies (or equivalent).
• Completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent training.
• Ability to read policies and procedures, mostly in English, and to communicate moderately in English.
• Professional, respectful interaction with personnel at all levels, and adherence to safety procedures.
• Preferred: 2+ years of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, military or related environment, with a strong background in troubleshooting, maintaining and installing electrical systems.

Required skills

• Advanced electrical knowledge and skills, including programming and installing electrical devices used now or planned for the future within the plant.
• Use of test equipment such as ohmmeters and voltmeters.
