Production Mechanic / Technician

About the role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Production Mechanic/Technician maintains and repairs building systems and production equipment at the brewery's production facility. The role is hands-on and covers mechanical, electrical, HVAC and facility upkeep, working closely with the brewing team to minimize downtime and support production goals. It is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain building systems (HVAC, chillers, utilities, parking lot, condensers, offices) and perform preventive maintenance and quick repairs to avoid downtime
• Inspect the brewery, canning line and grounds regularly, and respond to equipment breakdowns with fault diagnosis and repairs within general maintenance expertise
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems including motors, pumps, sensors, lighting and control panels
• Assist with installation and commissioning of equipment and utilities, and monitor plumbing, lighting, drainage and fire suppression
• Maintain maintenance records, work orders and preventive maintenance logs, and coordinate with external contractors and vendors
• Recommend process or energy efficiency improvements and follow safety protocols
• May assist with packaging and cross-train in production areas as needed

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in maintenance preferred
• 2-4+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment (brewery experience a plus)
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints and equipment manuals
• Physical ability to lift up to 50+ pounds, work in noisy, humid and cold conditions, and follow safety policies such as lockout/tag-out

Required skills

• Electrical systems knowledge (wiring, motor control, VFDs) and HVAC/chiller/utility maintenance
• Welding and fabrication skills, especially on stainless-steel sanitary systems, preferred
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain it
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, time management and record-keeping skills
