Buyer - Cable Assembly Manufacturing

About the role

CableMaster, a GCG company, is looking for an experienced Buyer to join its procurement team and support purchasing for its cable assembly manufacturing operations in New Berlin, Wisconsin. The role is onsite, five days a week, Monday to Friday 8AM to 5PM Central Time. You will source and purchase raw materials, components, supplies and services so that production runs smoothly, working closely with suppliers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage purchase orders from requisition through receipt, keeping them accurate and aligned with manufacturing needs
• Purchase raw materials, components, MRO supplies and services while balancing cost, quality and lead time
• Monitor open orders, coordinate with suppliers on deliveries and address delays that could disrupt production
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information and transactional data in ERP and procurement systems
• Evaluate suppliers, request and compare quotations, negotiate price, lead times and terms, and build strong supplier relationships
• Monitor supplier performance and support corrective action on delivery or quality issues
• Work with production, engineering, quality, sales and supply chain teams to support manufacturing schedules
• Resolve shortages, quality concerns, order discrepancies and delivery challenges, and look for ways to reduce costs and improve processes

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement or a Buyer role in a manufacturing environment
• Understanding of purchasing processes, supplier management and material procurement in a production-driven operation
• Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, and good organizational skills with attention to detail
• Preferred: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or a related field
• Preferred: experience purchasing raw materials, electrical components, wire and cable or similar products for manufacturing

Required skills

• Experience with ERP or MRP systems for purchasing transactions and supplier information
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business applications
• Preferred: experience with Oracle ERP systems
