Maintenance Equipment Operator (IVH-Q)

About the role

The Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs is hiring two Maintenance Equipment Operators in Quincy, Illinois. The position is under the direct supervision of the Chief Stationary Engineer and involves the operation and repair of automotive and related equipment used to transport materials, food and supplies around the facility, as well as transporting residents by bus for recreation and sightseeing tours. It is a full-time, salaried union position with a 10:30am-7:00pm Thursday to Monday schedule, fully in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Operate automotive and related equipment to move materials, food and supplies to different parts of the facility and other destinations.
• Perform maintenance to keep equipment in operational order, including brake repairs, electronic ignitions, heating and air conditioning systems, exhaust systems, tune-up and timing procedures, and oil changes.
• Monitor and schedule operating repairs of electrical equipment and machinery that need attention.
• Transport residents by bus to various locations for recreation and sightseeing tours.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the role.

Required profile

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the State does not provide visa sponsorship.

What we offer

• Anticipated starting salary of $7,071 per month, with a range of $7,071 to $8,841 per month.
