Process Engineer

About the role

M&H Valve Company, part of Birmingham, Alabama-based McWane, Inc., manufactures water and wastewater materials such as fire hydrants, resilient wedge gate valves, butterfly valves and check valves. The Process Engineer works with Production Management and shop floor teams to improve production processes, equipment and overall efficiency, reducing waste, improving product quality and keeping safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize safety, wear appropriate PPE and follow ergonomic lifting techniques
• Work with supervisors and managers to identify continuous improvement opportunities on the shop floor
• Troubleshoot CNC and manual machine issues and monitor and update cycle times with supervisors and cost accounting
• Design and implement equipment solutions that error-proof and automate processes
• Perform process and equipment validations with Engineering, Quality and Maintenance
• Support new processes, products and prints through training and guidance
• Aid new product development with manufacturing feasibility analysis
• Assist the manufacturing engineering team with fixture and tooling evaluation, design and maintenance
• Help QA and Engineering with document control and keep process sheets and prints up to date

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or significant experience within M&H
• 3+ years in CNC and/or manual assembly environments preferred
• Preferred: process improvement, lean manufacturing and statistical process control (SPC) experience
• Preferred: experience leading teams or initiatives without direct supervision
• Physical demands: regular standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, entering confined spaces, and exposure to dust, fumes, noise and vibration
