PRN Lab MT/MLS Technician - Weekend

About the role

A weekend position (6a-6p) for a Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS) in a laboratory setting. The role covers operation and maintenance of diagnostic testing equipment, blood work and sample handling, and includes supervision of a Medical Laboratory Technologist.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain diagnostic testing equipment in line with departmental policy
• Perform all laboratory testing and manual diagnostic procedures, including using a microscope for diagnostic analysis
• Collect blood samples by venipuncture, finger stick and heel stick; cross-match blood products for transfusion
• Receive specimens, prepare samples for reference laboratory and report results accurately
• Maintain quality control data and monitor supply inventory
• Instruct nursing personnel in patient preparation and specimen collection
• Take orders from physicians and supervise a Medical Laboratory Technologist
• Follow the chemical hygiene plan, use personal protective equipment and attend in-service education and training

Required profile

• Current MT/MLS license
• Bachelor's degree in Biological, Chemical or Physical Science or Medical Technology with clinical laboratory training
• Successful completion of the Georgia Department of Human Resources exam, or on-the-job training with grandfather approval
• Current CPR certification
• Prior microbiology experience preferred
