About the role

A part-time (PRN) Medical Laboratory Technician position in Baxley, Georgia, focused on operating and maintaining diagnostic testing equipment and performing laboratory tests. The role involves receiving specimens, preparing samples for reference laboratories and supporting clinical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain diagnostic testing equipment in line with departmental policy
• Perform all laboratory testing and manual diagnostic procedures according to departmental policies and procedures
• Collect blood samples by venipuncture, finger stick and heel stick; cross-match blood products for transfusion
• Receive specimens, prepare samples for reference laboratory and report results correctly
• Maintain quality control data and monitor supply inventory
• Instruct nursing personnel in patient preparation and specimen collection
• Take orders from physicians and supervise the Medical Laboratory Technologist
• Use personal protective equipment and follow the chemical hygiene plan
• Participate in in-service education, on-the-job training and workshops

Required profile

• Current MLT license
• Bachelor's degree in Biological, Chemical or Physical Science or Medical Technology with clinical laboratory training
• Current CPR certification
• Prior microbiology experience preferred
