PRN Certified CS/SPD Technician – Mercy Hospital

About the role

The PRN Certified CS/SPD Technician supports the Central Sterile Processing department at Mercy Hospital, ensuring that surgical instruments and supplies are safely decontaminated, assembled, and ready for use. This position works variable PRN shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of reprocessed instruments.
• Build and dispatch case carts for specialty procedures, ensuring adherence to protocols.
• Maintain accurate record keeping, inventory control, and ordering of supplies.
• Inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness, and operate the Computerized Instrument Tracking System.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current Sterile Processing Distribution Certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER).
• Ability to lift 20‑30 lb items and push carts up to 200 lb.
• Willingness to work PRN variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required skills

• Sterile processing and distribution knowledge.
• Proficiency with Computerized Instrument Tracking System.
• Basic computer skills.
