Principal Integration Engineer - Workday

About the role

The Principal Integration Engineer will design, develop, govern, and support enterprise integrations for Workday HCM, Finance, Payroll, and related systems. This senior technical leader ensures data integrity, security, and scalability across inbound and outbound interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the enterprise Workday integration architecture, establishing standards and a long‑term roadmap.
• Lead, mentor, and provide technical governance for integration engineers and ensure production stability.
• Architect high‑complexity integrations, including real‑time APIs, middleware orchestration, and cross‑platform data exchanges.
• Partner with business leaders, architects, cybersecurity teams, and vendors to deliver secure, compliant solutions.
• Maintain architectural documentation, enforce development standards, support audits, and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• Eight+ years of experience in enterprise system integrations or interface architecture.
• Strong experience supporting Workday integrations, including business process configuration and data model knowledge.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams, define standards, and make architectural decisions.

Required skills

• Workday integration tools: Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Web Services.
• APIs (REST, SOAP), XML, XSLT, SFTP, middleware platforms, data transformation logic.
• Troubleshooting complex integration failures and performance issues.
